SAI KRIPA
Keeping the Seido philosophy and principles at heart, Seido Noida extended its activities to Sai Kripa, a home for
abandoned and destitute children in Sector 12, Noida. Starting in June 2005, volunteers from the senior class of Seido
Noida, took the 32 Sai Kripa children through the basic drill in Seido Karate. The weekly classes were well received by the
children and curious neighbours would jostle for a peek at the proceedings.

The children at Sai Kripa range from 4-year-olds to 16-17 year-olds, with the girl children accounting for around 20 of the
total. Girls in their early teens took up this activity with most enthusiasm, with the teenage boys showing equal commitment.
The fact that this was a skill that would last them for their lives – and something that no one could take away – besides
offering an opportunity to protect themselves, seemed to find consonance with the children.

“Besides keeping them fit, the Karate classes also has helped channelize their energies,” states founder of Sai Kripa,
Anjina Rajagopalan. “We managed to convince the enthusiastic of the lot, to conduct classes themselves, during the week.”

There had been a few breaks in the classes during the height of the winters as well as during the children's school
examinations. This has weathered attendance but what are left are the children who now need no convincing to attend the
classes. The younger ones attend the class for sure, but for them, it is another day in paradise.
